BGT Audition!

First of all I never thought I would ever have the confidence to audition for any TV competition show . Is a big risk because If you appear on TV and something goes wrong during your performance your career can get destroyed! But yes I decided to take the risk and audition with my singing group 'V FEMME' as I believe in us so much! We are all classically trained and we come from different backrounds which makes us even more interesting. For the audition we prepared the song 'Wuthering Heights' by Kate Bush which included 5 different harmonies, our own arrangement of the soundtrack and an elegant, modern choreography.

As you can imagine we had to wait for hours in order to be seen and that dropped our energy levels and excitement. We tried our best to keep our voices warm by singing the song and by going through the choreography as much as we could. Whilst we were waiting, a girl in the crew spotted us and asked us If we would like to do our make up and hair whilst being filmed! That really brought our energy levels back as we realised that the clip might be shown on TV were millions of people will see us!

Entering the auditioning room was scary but exciting at the same time! Unfortunately It wasn't the real judges that we see on TV but the the producers. Being in a group made me feel much more relaxed and possitive than If I was auditioning by myself  because we all used our energy to calm each other.

We tried our best and they weren't any major mistakes made during the performance, we were professional and entertaining for sure! The judges looked very possitive and they seemed to have liked us, but I don't want to get over excited until we pass to the next round, fingers crossed!

I will keep you updated with any news, I have a good feeling about this :)

  1. How exciting, must have been an amazing experience. Please let us all know if you hear anything, would be good to actually know someone who got through and it certainly sounds like your group are very different from the normal groups you see in these competitions. Good luck and fingers crossed for you. Betty x

  3. Hey merry chritstmas! It's very brave to go for a commpetition like that, because a lot of people judge the integrety of the competitors. I definately think it has its pros and cons. Obviously its a great opportunity when there really are so few at the moment but at the same time, the way the competition is run, its very cut throat and you cant get away with as much as a new band as everyone is watching your every move. It would obviously be fantastic if you get through, so all the best of luck, but what is your personal view on shows like that and X factor, do you think by opening up the stage to so many people it damages the value of our 3 years of training in the sense that it is clear that they dont care if contestants are trained or not?

  4. Merry Christmas! Yes I know that these type of shows have many hidden traps and if you're not careful they can harm your career. Although going on this type of show like the X Factor, means you are aware that you might receive bad critique and exposure. Having said that it doesn't mean that it always works this way; of course if you work hard, have the cofidence and talent it can also work on your favour. I know that many untrained people go on these type of shows to gain publicity and to be recognised as artists and because of that, many trained artists think that they waisted their time and money when a show like this can make 'anyone' famous in seconds! I don't think that we should see these shows as a thread of the value of our training, as is clear that they are based on a factor called 'entertainment'. This is what the audience wants to see and this is how they judge the contestants, we shouldn't compare years of training with shows like BGT and the X Factor as they are purely their for entertaining reasons, now if you are talented, interesting and lucky enough you can get something out of it that is beneficial for your career.
